Microsoft 2007 Products – End of Extended Support

  • Simon Champneys

If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 or Exchange Server 2007, it is important to act now as these products no longer benefit from extended Microsoft support.

Microsoft Office 2007 and Exchange 2007 have been integral products for many organisations since their launch in 2007.

Microsoft Office 2007 and Outlook 2007 have now fallen out of extended support meaning that no new features, bug fixes, security patches or support will be available from Microsoft. Please be aware that even those using Outlook 2007 alongside Office 365 Outlook Anywhere need to take action due to the 2007 products not supporting MAPI/HTTP.

With the end of support for Office 2007, a total of 32 related products will be affected. It is also important to note that support for Exchange Server 2007 and other solutions (including Microsoft Accounting 2007, InterConnect 2007 and Office Communicator Phone Edition) ended in April of this year.

Of course, it is crucial that software is kept up-to-date to mitigate the increasing security threats posed. Having unsupported software poses the risk of vulnerabilities being exploited by cyber criminals, an easy way of ransomware and similar security threats being deployed.
