Enhancing IT Security & Compliance For Corporate Events Company
A growing name in the corporate events and travel sector identified the need to improve its IT infrastructure and cyber security posture to win larger tenders and meet the demands of high-profile clients.
With more procurement teams requesting evidence of cyber maturity and compliance with recognised standards, the business required an overhaul of its digital estate to align with best practice frameworks, enable secure access for a mobile workforce, and demonstrate a proactive approach to security risk management.
After conducting an initial cyber security audit, Akita was then engaged to deliver a series of targeted IT improvements designed to enhance infrastructure resilience, secure data environments, and position the company for enterprise-level work.
Hosting & Secure Remote Access
The first phase involved modernising the organisation’s hosting and remote access environment. Akita provisioned a secure, hosted server environment to support web services and business-critical systems.
Hosting was configured with regular patching schedules, encrypted connections, and hardened security settings, including the enforcement of least privilege access policies.
To enable secure access for staff working remotely or at event locations, Akita deployed a VPN solution with end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and full connection logging. This gave employees a reliable and secure way to access internal systems from any location, without increasing the organisation’s risk surface.
Penetration Testing & Risk Identification
To establish a clear view of existing vulnerabilities, Akita conducted a full-scope penetration test covering external infrastructure, internal systems, web applications, and remote access points.
Full findings were presented in a detailed report, with all issues prioritised by risk level. Akita also provided remediation guidance to support internal teams in closing gaps swiftly and effectively.
This independent assessment gave the company the insight it needed to improve resilience and demonstrate accountability in future tenders.
Cloud & Cyber Security Consultancy
Alongside technical improvements, Akita provided cyber consultancy services focused on the company’s cloud and identity management environments. This included reviews of Microsoft 365, Azure, and related cloud SaaS services, ensuring all systems were configured securely and aligned with best practice.
Support was also provided around identity and access management, secure data storage, and hardening existing environments. Guidance was tailored to help the business work towards compliance with recognised frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, and the NIST cyber security Framework.
By strengthening both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, the company was able to build a unified, robust cyber strategy aligned to enterprise expectations.
Ongoing Vulnerability Management
To maintain a high standard of security and demonstrate continuous improvement, Akita established a monthly vulnerability management service. This included external vulnerability scanning, regular reporting, and advice on remediating identified risks.
Over time, results were tracked and benchmarked to show progress against initial baselines—useful both for internal governance and when responding to tender questionnaires and due diligence processes.
Outcome
With a secure and professionally managed IT estate, the corporate events company is now well-positioned to target higher-value contracts and meet increasingly rigorous security requirements from prospective clients.
Akita’s work provided both immediate protection and a long-term strategy for cyber maturity – ensuring the organisation remains resilient, compliant, and competitive in a demanding market.
