Cyber Essentials For London Removal Company

Alongside this a more immediate concern was present: without recognised cyber security accreditation, it was effectively locked out of public sector and local authority contracts.

      Proactive Security Step

Thames Removals wanted to address these risks decisively, without slowing the business down or burdening internal teams. Cyber Essentials was identified as the right standard to prove baseline cyber security maturity to customers, partners and procurement bodies, while laying the foundations for longer-term resilience.

Akita supported Thames Removals through the Cyber Essentials process, building on an IT environment that had already been proactively managed for several years. This existing relationship meant the business was effectively certification-ready before the audit even began.

Akita started with a structured IT security audit, assessing devices, users, software and infrastructure against Cyber Essentials requirements. Endpoint protection, firewall controls and existing security measures were already well implemented, reflecting consistent, preventative IT management rather than reactive fixes.

The review also focused on operational risk areas that commonly expose SMEs to cyber threats, including account access, password controls and joiner and leaver processes. These areas often present the greatest vulnerability as businesses grow and roles evolve.

The audit highlighted only minor improvements were required to meet certification standards. These included introducing multi-factor authentication on key accounts and formalising access management processes to reduce the risk of unauthorised access. Akita implemented these changes without disrupting day-to-day operations, allowing the business to continue operating as normal throughout.

Following implementation, an independent Cyber Essentials assessor reviewed and approved the certification.

      Results

For Thames Removals, the outcome went beyond accreditation. The business can now clearly demonstrate a security-first approach, protecting customer data and strengthening its credibility in a competitive market. Crucially, Cyber Essentials has unlocked access to government and local authority tenders that were previously out of reach, turning cyber security into a growth enabler rather than a cost centre.
