Why Choose Akita’s Managed MDR Services?
How Our MDR Services Work
Threat Investigation & Communication
All potential security threats are continuously monitored and initially classified as Escalations. These represent suspicious or unusual activity that requires further analysis.
Each escalation is investigated and monitored until it is either:
• Confirmed as a security Incident, or
• Determined to be non-malicious activity.
During the investigation process, we may contact you to request clarification or approval before resolving or confirming an incident.
Containment
Each identified risk is classified as either an Incident or an Escalation.
An incident represents confirmed malicious activity. Escalations are suspicious behaviour that requires further investigation and is not yet fully confirmed as malicious.
Containment is applied to confirmed and known incident types without requiring prior customer approval. Where activity aligns with known false-positive indicators, investigation and validation will be completed before any containment actions are taken.
Remediation
Following containment, a structured remediation process is applied based on the nature and severity of the incident.
• Removal of all identified malicious files, processes, services, and persistence mechanisms.
• Verification that the threat has been fully eradicated from affected systems.
• Restoration of normal system and network access where appropriate.
We then work with your organisation to implement security improvements and provide guidance on preventative controls, configuration changes, and user awareness where required.
Incident Reporting & Documentation
Following remediation and validation, a formal incident report is produced to provide full transparency, accountability, and assurance.
The report documents the incident lifecycle, actions taken, and recommendations for future prevention.
Why Do Organisations Need An MDR Service?
Modern businesses operate in an increasingly complex cyber landscape. Threats are becoming more sophisticated, and traditional security measures are no longer enough to keep attackers out.
A Managed Detection & Response (MDR) service provides proactive, expert-driven protection to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats before they cause damage.
Here’s why MDR is essential for today’s organisations:
- Cyber attacks are more frequent & advanced – AI-driven threats, phishing, and zero-day exploits bypass traditional security.
- Traditional security isn’t enough – Firewalls & antivirus react to threats; MDR prevents them.
- Data breaches are costly – Avoid financial losses, downtime, reputational damage, and legal penalties.
- Rapid response minimises damage – MDR provides 24/7 monitoring to detect, contain, and mitigate attacks in real time.
- Ensures compliance – Supports GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and industry regulations.

MDR Security Services FAQ
What does an MDR provider actually do?
A Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider delivers 24/7 threat monitoring, investigation and incident response to help organisations identify and contain cyber threats before they cause disruption. Unlike traditional security tools that simply generate alerts, MDR security services combine advanced threat detection with expert security analysts who actively investigate, remediate and report on potential incidents.
Is MDR the same as penetration testing?
No. Penetration testing is a point-in-time assessment that identifies security weaknesses within your systems, applications and networks. Managed Detection and Response provides continuous monitoring, threat hunting and incident response. While penetration testing helps uncover vulnerabilities, MDR security services help detect and respond to active threats in real time. Many organisations use both services as part of a layered cyber security strategy.
About Penetration TestingHow much do MDR services cost in the UK?
The cost of Managed Detection and Response services varies depending on the size of your environment, the number of users and endpoints being monitored, and the level of response required.
