How we have helped
Proactive Threat Monitoring With Managed Detection And Response
As cyber threats become more sophisticated, traditional security controls do not always provide organisations with the visibility they need to identify and respond to suspicious activity.
A specialist HVAC organisation with global operations wanted to strengthen its security posture by introducing proactive threat detection, continuous monitoring and structured incident response.
Akita implemented a comprehensive Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service across 132 endpoints and 168 user identities, representing our largest MDR deployment to date.
The result is a more proactive approach to cyber security, combining technology, ongoing monitoring and access to Akita’s specialist cyber security expertise.
The Challenge
The organisation already had preventative security measures in place. However, with the challenge of global operations, it wanted to strengthen its ability to identify and respond to round-the-clock threats across both users and devices.
This required greater visibility across its technology environment, particularly into activity that could indicate a compromised endpoint, account or identity.
The organisation needed an ongoing managed service capable of monitoring these different areas and enabling suspicious activity to be investigated and escalated when required.
The Solution
Akita deployed its Managed Detection and Response service across 132 endpoints and 168 user identities, bringing endpoint and identity monitoring together within a centralised security environment.
Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) provides monitoring for suspicious activity, malicious processes and potential indicators of compromise across devices.
Alongside this, Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) monitors user identities for suspicious authentication activity, compromised accounts and other identity-based threats.
Bringing these together provides centralised visibility across endpoint and identity security alerts, giving Akita’s cyber security team the information needed to investigate potential threats and provide appropriate escalation and response.
Crucially, the engagement goes beyond deploying security technology. Akita provides the organisation with ongoing security oversight and specialist expertise as part of a managed service.
The Outcome
The deployment has strengthened the organisation’s approach to cyber security by adding proactive detection and monitoring alongside its existing preventative controls.
With endpoints and identities monitored as part of one managed service, the organisation benefits from improved visibility across its environment and greater capability to identify potential security threats.
It also provides access to specialist cyber security expertise without requiring the organisation to build equivalent monitoring and incident response capabilities entirely in-house.
For Akita, the project demonstrates how enterprise-grade cyber security capabilities can be delivered effectively to SMEs, combining endpoint protection, identity security, centralised threat detection and managed incident response within a single service.
From Prevention To Proactive Cyber Security
Effective cyber security is increasingly about more than attempting to prevent every threat.
Organisations also need the visibility to recognise suspicious activity when it occurs, the expertise to understand what it means and an established approach for responding appropriately.
Akita’s Managed Detection and Response service brings these elements together, helping organisations develop a more proactive and resilient approach to cyber security. If your organisation relies primarily on preventative security controls, Akita can help you understand where greater monitoring, detection and response capabilities could strengthen your protection.
