Akita was contacted by Metroline Security due to the poor performance of their Microsoft Small Business Server setup (SBS 2008). It had been installed two years previously, yet already was failing to meet their business needs.

Following an initial site survey for IT support at their Folkestone offices, it was clear that the specification of the server setup was insufficient for the business. The Small Business Server was running databases, file management as well as all of the company’s emails. The load placed on it was just too much for this underperforming server.

Cloud Migration

After consultation with management, it was determined that the IT systems would benefit from a cloud migration solution. Metroline was moved over to a new email solution, removing a large chunk of the demand on the server.

Once Microsoft Exchange was removed from the server, the server setup was upgraded from SBS 2008 to a more modern operating system. The server was also configured to better meet business needs and make use of the newly-available capacity. Metroline saw immediate performance improvements in the IT systems. The upgrade to the existing server allowed staff to work more effectively.

As the company has grown, further developments have included the migration to a fully hosted server. This has allowed users to further benefit from the increased speed and resilience of Akita’s top-of-the-line cloud solution.
