Heathcote Holdings is a diverse group of businesses operating across organics, recycling, waste management, agricultural innovation, and land stewardship.

Rapid growth through acquisition had left the group with a fragmented technology estate that was increasingly complex and costly to manage. With individual companies operating on separate Microsoft 365 tenants, collaboration across the group became challenging, while the cost and complexity of managing IT continued to rise.

Working closely with Heathcote Holdings, Akita delivered a structured migration programme that consolidated 13 separate Microsoft tenants into a single Microsoft 365 environment.

Requirement

Over time, Heathcote Holdings had accumulated multiple Microsoft 365 tenants across its portfolio of companies. While this structure reflected the organisation’s growth, it introduced several operational challenges.

Employees often needed multiple Microsoft 365 accounts to access information across different businesses. Sharing files between companies was cumbersome, calendars were separated, and collaboration through SharePoint was inconsistent. These issues created unnecessary administrative overhead and made it more difficult for staff to work effectively across the wider group.

The fragmented environment also limited visibility and control for IT administrators, with systems, security policies and user management spread across multiple platforms.

Heathcote Holdings wanted to modernise its digital workplace by bringing all companies together within a single Microsoft 365 tenant while ensuring business operations continued uninterrupted throughout the transition.

Microsoft 365 Solution

Akita designed and delivered a carefully structured nine-month migration programme to consolidate all 13 businesses into a unified Microsoft 365 environment.
